How do train a dog to become a hunting dog?

how do train a dog to become a hunting dog?How do train a dog to become a hunting dog?
Buy a toy that looks like a ';squirel'; a ';duck'; that squeaks, then hide it in different places, (when he finds it first) prase him.

Once he can find them easily move to (fetching after finding). Also, when they eat, drop a book, hard sometimes so they are used to the sound of guns.BTW, for people that say hunting is not ok, well, let me tell you ';your chicken, your beef, etc'; doesnt grow in super markets and no, cows dont come in packages/How do train a dog to become a hunting dog?
Except for a couple of answers here, the rest of the them are made by idiots who have no idea what they are talking about.

Have you people lost it so much that you cannot bring your selves to think that some people do hunt and eat their kill? Where do all these hunting breeds come from? Why were they created? I am not a hunter, I never have hunted before, but, that does not make me so freaking superior that I cannot think or accept that and think that there is something inherently wrong with hunting..

Please, get over your problems and start realizing that dogs were created and put her for a reason and that reason is NOT to be your companion and sit on your couch all day. They are predators and were meant to help us humans in a variety of ways, including killikn/hunting another animal!!!
We'll if your intrested in a real hunting dog, like a duck bird or rabbit hunter, go to any sporting store or library. There is tons of books, videos, magazines on hunting dogs. Best bet would be to send it to a hunting dog trainer, or buy a gun dog already started. It's a lot harder then sit and stay. Geander Mountain, Bass Pro Shop, Cabales just to name a few are great places to start looking for materials. Basic obidence is first and formost!
depends on the type of dog you've got and what you intend to hunt
you are f**king sick in the head, give your dog to a owner that will look after it and love it not teach it to hunt and then get put down for being dangerous and vicious, now use your brain would you teach your child or children to kill other livving things??? weather its human or animal , its sick and disgusting you would even think of doing somthing like that!!! go to the wild and let animal hunt you down!!!! wouldnt that be nice??
well arent you just a lovely person asking such a lovely question
Most of it is actually just instinct that comes out. It works best if you have another, older dog with you that will teach the younger what to do. And you just go hunting with them.
It depends what kind of dog is it most small breed like Jack Russel Terrier,Schnauzer and the Rhodesian Ridgeback were bred to hunt(its in their blood)
breed your dog with a hunting dog and its child will be a hunting dog
It depends on what kind of dog and what kind of game you are hunting.
why do you want your dog to kill other living things ?
Unless you are a gamekeeper or similar it really isn't a good idea to train your dog to hunt.

If it is a larger breed it will probably hunt anything small and furry, including cats and small dogs. Some breeds have a high enough prey drive 'built in' without someone who isn't knowledgable encouraging them on.

People who work their dogs already know how to train them as they mix with others who work their dogs too. If you are needing to ask how to train your dog it indicates to me that you are just someone who wants to bring out a vicious side of his dog, perhaps in the mistaken attempt to make him look cool.

Leave your dog as it is.

If you have a gundog breed and want him to take part in gundog trials where they retrieve and hunt 'dummys' then contact the Kennel Club in your country, they should have lists of Gundog clubs.
