What brand/model of gun would you recommend as a good gun all around hunting gun?

By all around I hunting I mean turkey, waterfowl, deer, and upland game. What brand/model of gun would you recommend as a good gun all around hunting gun?
I'd recommend either the Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 in a 12 gauge. You can buy a 50 caliber muzzleloader barrel for the Mossberg and shoot it just like an inline. I think the 12 gauge would be a good pick in size. I personally own both a Mossberg 500 and a Remington 870. Pump actions are just fine in my book and work just as good as a semi-auto with less headache and you don't have to worry about any cycling problems. My only gripe about the Mossberg is that the forearm rattles TOO MUCH. This is true for about 99.9% of the 500's I've seen and heard from other owners. May not be the BEST pick for turkey hunting since you want to be as quiet as possible since they have excellent hearing. The Remington is very quiet. I bought mine used at a pawn shop for $200. It looked to have not even had one box shot through it.What brand/model of gun would you recommend as a good gun all around hunting gun?
I know you want me to say 12 Ga shotgun in a quality brand and common configuration. But surprisingly enough a 243 to 338 Magnum rifle will also do this if a person is a real hunter and reloader. Loading FMJ bullets at moderate velocity for use on various smaller critters, will work fine on head or body hits, depending on your opportunities. The absurd habit of shotgunners to ';not put sights on a gun';, results in a mindset which tends to exclude precision shooting they could otherwise have had with other hardware, and against the same game believed to be the exclusive province of scatterguns. Of course a deer rifle can also be used on deer. Regards, Larry.
Sounds like what you're describing is a twelve gauge shotgun. If you're thinking about taking deer with it, you are going to be shooting heavy buckshot loads or rifled slugs. Waterfowl, depending on what you're hunting means 3'; magnum shells.

I'd look for a heavy shotgun that could handle 3'; shells and possibly had an adjustable choke (choke tubes) - the patterns that you need for turkey and waterfowl are different than the patterns you need for upland birds. You want the pellets to stay in a tight formation for long shots at waterfowl, but to spread out more to give you a better chance at fast moving, stunt flying dove and quail. If you're recoil sensitive, look into a semi-automatic to help absorb some of the kick; otherwise, you might look into a good pump shotgun.

Hope this helps.
Remington 870 pump shotgun in 12 gauge. I'd recommend making sure you get one with a changeable choke, and chambered for 3 1/2 inch magnum. The interchangeable chokes will allow you to use the gun for many purposes(super full choke for turkey, improved cylinder for slugs on deer). The ability to use the 3 1/2 inch magnum could be very useful if you ever hunt geese and need extra mmmph.
Realize no gun is a do all be all firearm....

The only gun that comes close is a shotgun.... You can use different cartridges for different purposes.....

A Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun would be a decent choice........

I prefer to have different tools for different jobs. A 20 guage will serve you very well for everything but the deer harvest. A cheap $200 30-06 with a $100 scope will be more than enough to feed you, your family, and every dog in your neighborhood for the year.

Good luck and plant plenty of clover.

My Mossberg Pump 20 Gauge does OK. It came with two barrels, one 26'; with interchangeable chokes, and one 20'; with rifle sights. Depending on it's loads, it will do fine for hunting upland birds, waterfowl, deer, antelope, bear, hogs, turkeys, and other prey.
Go with the Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. You can switch barrels on these as easily as breathing for any kind of a hunt.
It's hard to beat a good ol' fashioned 12 gauge. I am partial to Browning over/unders myself. Loaded with slug or shot, they won't let you down. Plus, they're beautiful to look at.
Remington 870 Express super mag

You can use slugs for deer.
Either a Mossberg or a Rueger.
Go to Yahoo finance and find the Ruger board. There are lots of considered opinions there.
