Go to a big box sporting goods store.... Most areas have at least one around --- Also check out Walmart.... Not all of there stores have a gun counter but several do.....





Look for a Mossberg 100-ATR, a Remington 770 or a Stevens model 200...... Consider one chambered in .270, 308 or 30-06..... Consider no other cartridge offerings.... The idea is to get a rifle chambered in a common chamber that's available on every sport shop shelf in North America.... .270, 308 or 30-06...... The .270 is a perfect deer cartridge.... The 30-06 is very popular and is powerful - a little too powerful for deer in my opinion..... I happen to like the .308. Its got plenty of power, reach and when not hunting bulk ammo is available cheap for some cheap target practice time.....

Walmart has guns at good prices, they usually carry Remington 700 ADL's. Lately I have noticed that all of their guns seem to have synthetic stocks. If you like synthetic stocks and they are carrying the caliber you want, it is hard to beat their price. They normally have 30.06 and 270 cal.
new one here we have bi mart stores who carry remmington and savage, or gi joe stores. if used is ok every sunday your local paper has private owners selling theres and u can find a good one there if you take your time. exp now with the economy.
Used guns can be found in classified adds in newspapers. Dunhams stores sells used military rifles for under $200 or even under $100. These often need gunsmithing work to mount a scope though.

another good option is to check out used firearms. 30-30 lever actions are usually decently priced
I've got a . 303 I could sell for about 100.00, thats as cheap as any you will find, its good for deer hunting. Its a used Military Rifle but in good shape.
