What is a popular medium to large game hunting scope for a .308 Rifle?

I prefer cross-hairs with reticle patterans for a range of up to 200-300 yards. Also I am looking for a good offensive .308 scope for 1/2 kilometer and further (ie sniper rifle)What is a popular medium to large game hunting scope for a .308 Rifle?
For a sniper rifle i would recommend a Leupold Mark 4 3.5x10x40 Mil Dot with M1 turrets. For a hunting rifle Leupold VX III 3.5x10 Boone and Crockett reticleWhat is a popular medium to large game hunting scope for a .308 Rifle?
it's hard to answer without knowing your budget but I would look at a Nikon and if you're taking shots from half or kilometer instead of crosshairs you may want to look at a med dot.reticle.I will have to agree and say you may want to stay away from batteries if you want an illuminated reticle take a look at trijicon an innovative company who's come up with illuminated radical without using batteries with the use of fiber optics the scopes are top notch the military buying them like crazy.but the scope will set you back quite a bit.
I almost agree with Super61.

My choice would be the 4.5-14x40 VX-III with adjustable objective and the new low target turrets. If you're truly shooting at targets over half a kilometer away the extra magnification will come in handy as you get older, and the parallax adjustment on the objective will allow more accurate shot placement. I like the duplex reticle.

I recommend staying away from illuminated reticles though - no need for battery-powered devices on a rifle.
site in for 250yds and a simple duplex 3-9X from leupuld works for the whole of 0-300yds. If you are looking to get a good sniper scope. Look at the Horus Vision, Falcon.
I have always been partial to Burris scopes...check out
