Does CIMA help in a job hunting for a junior in Britain?

Hi everybody! i am a junior in accountancy, although i have a master degree in investment analysis. recently i noticed that a qualification would help a wee bit, and since i am interested in financial reporting and management accounting, so i am thinking about to sit on an exam. do you think a CIMA will help a wee bit? or any other qualifications? OR, working experience first? thanks very very much!Does CIMA help in a job hunting for a junior in Britain?
Whoah, there are some dodgy answers here. Can't believe someone thinks you need AAT to be an accountant!! Most of us that are accountants (I am) are ACA, ACCA or CIMA. It is very useful to get a qualification or you will find yourself unable to progress later on. Most accountants either work in industry or for an accountancy practice. CIMA is better suited to working in industry and if you enjoy management accounting and would like to be an assistant to the company accountant, company accountant or eventually a company finance director then it would be a good qualification to look at. If you think you might like to work in an accountancy practice at some time then with CIMA this might be difficult to achieve and you might be better off with ACCA as it is respected in both areas.

You should be looking into jobs and qualifications at the same time and then should gain experience and pass exams that are in line with how you are progressing. Most employers will support your study and pay for your courses and exams.

All of the accountancy bodies how good websites about enrolling with them.

Hope this helps and good luck with getting in!Does CIMA help in a job hunting for a junior in Britain?
In the UK you will need AAT - Association of Accounting Technicians Qualification www.aat.co.uk/ in order to be an accountant. Some companies will train you through it, others won't depends on the firm.

Usually takes about 3 years by part-time or distance learning
Work experience is a must, unless you come out university and apply for degree job. As you have worked before, work experience is must. Try working without pay, send out your cv to accountancy firms.

Best of luck.
... so, don't you mean ';a junior hunting for a job?'; If the job is out there looking for YOU, maybe you should turn a light on at your front door or something.
qualifications are CRAP. dont bother with CIMA or whatever.

you hit the nail on the head.....WORK EXPERIENCE.
